Hughson Golf Finishes Third in The League with Its Biggest Team Yet

November 15, 2025

Hughson High School Golf wraps up another season with 25 golfers, the largest team in program history. The team finished 3rd in the Trans-Valley League and qualified for the Section Tournament as a team for the first time since 2019.

Madden Nobles earned All-League honors and qualified for the Masters for the second time. Last year, Nobles was ranked number three overall in the league. Now, she is not only the first from Hughson High School to achieve this, but has done it twice. Nobles scored an average of 37.0, with a best score of 33 in 9-hole rounds and an average of 92.5, with a best score of 91 in 18-hole rounds this season, and an overall and league standing of 8-4. Her best score was 33.

Throughout the season, multiple teams of five from Hughson competed in five tournaments against as many as 15 schools of varying sizes, earning placements from second to ninth. Hughson’s Junior Varsity team posted an impressive 10–3 record, traveling extensively to find competition, as very few Junior Varsity programs exist within our section.

Coach Paul Gose said, “We are proud of our athletes’ growth, sportsmanship, and achievements throughout a record-setting season.”

The team included:

Seniors: Channing Coonce, Emma Dubel, Story Johnson, Madden Nobles, Adaley Poulson, Aliyah Santiago

Juniors: Kelsey Brower, Victoria Cribbet, Addison Gould, Kali Irizarry, Katelynn Loveland, Ava O’Hara, Makayla Silveira, Sophia Spears

Sophomores: Betty Connors, Haley Martin, Mia Mateo, Payton Medeiros, Sadie Petersen, Sophia Soriano

Freshman: Chloe Cooper, Mikala Forks, Sofia Hamilton, Morgan King, Betty Uribe.

Coaching staff included Paul Gose, Don Tetrick, and Justin Hamilton. The team thanks Dana Ebster, LPGA Professional, “for leading an outstanding summer program,” and to River Oaks Golf Course and Taste of Hughson, for generously supporting our team with meals and apparel.

Hughson High School Golf finished runner-up in the division, competing against 70 teams in the division, just missing out on the blue banner.

Girls Golf Ready to Battle for Another League Title

September 24, 2025

The 2025 Lady Huskies enter the season ready to battle for another league title. Last year, the ladies finished second to Hilmar.

On the team this year are seniors 4-year golfer Channing Coonce, Adaley Poulson, Story Johnson, Aliyah Santiago, Emma Dubel, and the team's captain, returning All-leaguer and section tournament finalist, Madden Nobles.

Juniors Kelsey Brower, Victoria Cribbet, Addison Gould, Kali Irizarry, Katelynn Loveland, Ava O’Hara, Makayla Silveira, Sophia Spears;

Sophomores returner Mia Mateo, and first-year golfers Betty Connors, Haley Martin, Payton Medeiros, Sadie Petersen, and Sophia Soriano;

And Freshmen Chloe Cooper, Mikala Forks, Sofia Hamilton, Morgan King, and Betty Uribe.

To gear up, they have been working hard since June, and are excited to see that hard work pay off. “We are blessed with excellent senior leadership and great participation with 25 athletes hitting the links,” Coach Paul Gose said. “The Huskies’ Coaching Staff is very proud of the girls’ dedication during the off-season. The attendance in the summer program was the best it has ever been. The dedication and hard work will bear fruit in the future. PGA professional Dana Ebster provided an excellent environment for learning. The coaches and players are very thankful!”

According to Gose, a majority of schools in this area are unable to fill a six-member Girls' Golf team, but Hughson, year after year, fields a Varsity and JV team of six each. “Much work by dedicated parents, coaches and athletes goes into every season.  Hughson Girls’ Golf truly has something good going on.”

The HHS golf coaches and players would also like to thank The Taste of Hughson, the Hughson Athletic Boosters, and River Oaks GC for their support year in and year out.
