At the Stanislaus Partners in Education Luncheon on April 23, the Hughson Unified School District recognized Taste of Hughson as its district partner, thanking the local organization for its support of Hughson students.

The Stanislaus Partners in Education, also known as SPIE, began in 1991 to enhance Stanislaus County students' readiness for the transition into the professional world after high school. Through SPIE, Hughson teachers have applied for classroom grants to purchase materials, hire guest speakers, host career days, and more to help students learn about potential economic opportunities after graduation.

The luncheon is a highlight of SPIE’s year, bringing together community leaders, educators, and partnering organizations from across Stanislaus County, and provides an opportunity for districts to thank their business partners and celebrate the many career-connected learning opportunities available to students and educators throughout the region.

“Each year, we strive to recognize a group or individuals who have really supported our students and sites,” Hughson Unified School District Superintendent Brenda Smith said. “Taste of Hughson has been a powerful partner for years, giving scholarships to seniors, helping students attend Outdoor Education, providing PE and athletic equipment to our sites, and sponsoring our mental health Lunch Bunch, to name a few.”

The Taste of Hughson began as a non-profit organization composed of parents, coaches, and other community members committed to helping Hughson athletic teams achieve their full potential and has expanded to provide support in many areas beyond athletics. It raises funds through its annual event, Taste of Hughson, held every spring. This year’s fundraiser raised over $90,000 for Hughson’s youth.

“Hughson Unified School District values our community partners,” Smith said. “The Taste of Hughson committee is made up of community members who are invested in the success of our students and want to help make their educational experience memorable and worthwhile. The Taste of Hughson joins our long list of incredible community partnerships, and we look forward to our continued work together."
