Hughson Unified seeks replacement for Trustee Randee Harcrow, who has resigned

The Hughson Unified School is seeking applications for its governing board to replace Trustee Randee Harcrow, who resigned Aug. 1.

It is too late to have the vacancy filled in this this November’s election. Rather than hold a costly special election, the board intends to appoint an interim trustee who will fill out the final two years of Harcrow’s term.

To qualify, interested applicants must be:

·         A registered voter who lives in District 2 (north and central Hughson)

·         18 years or older

·         Not disqualified from holding a civil office

·         Not a current district employee (or will resign his/her employment)

Those interested can pick up an application at the school district office at 7448 Fox Road. All applications must be returned to the office by 4 p.m. Sept. 3.

The board will appoint a two-member committee to screen applications along with Superintendent Brenda Smith. Eligible candidates will be announced Sept. 10 and a special board meeting will be held Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. to interview, select and appoint the new board member.

Harcrow was first elected in 2018 and ran unopposed for a second term in 2022. She is a longtime Hughson resident who graduated from Hughson High School. She is an elementary school teacher in Modesto. She and her husband, Jason, have two sons.
