Digital Citizenship

Digital Citizenship is a positive approach to helping children learn how to be safe, secure, and polite participants in the digital world.  Helping them to understand their rights and responsibilities, recognize the benefits and risks of a digital society, and understand the personal and ethical implications of their actions in this world is an important part of their education, both at school and at home.
Here are some resources about digital citizenship that help students to become significant and positive members of their digital world.\

GOOGLE APPS FOR EDUCATION

Hughson Unified School District is using Google Apps for Education.  This is an online suite of tools and applications to help students learn how to create and collaborate in an online, shared environment.
Google Docs includes online word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and drawing applications. Students can work on their documents from any Internet accessible device, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, or desktop computers. Student's can easily share their work with their teachers and other students.  All work is stored online, in the Google cloud.  Google provides this service to schools for free, and with no advertising.
Students will have their own email account they will use to communicate and collaborate with their teacher and other students in the district.  They cannot use their email account to communicate outside of the Hughson Unified School District.
Google Docs/Apps allow teachers to create online information and post materials from their classes for their students.
HUSD encourages parents to log in and explore Google Doc/Apps with their children.
Students are expected to follow school rules when online as required in the classroom. Students should understand that their accounts are not private and can be monitored for compliance at any time.
