Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the Hughson Unified School District. It is a great honor for me to serve as the Superintendent for HUSD. I have worked in Hughson as a teacher, site administrator, and district administrator for the past twenty-four years and am committed to our district vision and the students that we serve. Our community is home to many wonderful families. We greatly appreciate the parental and community partnerships that make Hughson a unique place to work and go to school.

Our district serves students from Preschool through 12th grade. We have four comprehensive school sites and one alternative education facility to meet the diverse needs of our students. Our goal is to have our students ready to tackle college or the career of their choice after graduation. We have a very high graduation rate that is due to the many levels of support and interventions that we give to our students throughout their educational pathway.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated staff that cares about our students. We have implemented the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) philosophy into our schools to ensure that we are emphasizing positive behaviors that create a school culture that is safe, respectful, and responsible. We understand that parents entrust their child to us and we do all that we can to maintain a safe learning environment that is desirable for all students.

Our students are supported in their classrooms with rigorous curriculum and rich learning opportunities. We have a 1:1 technology plan in our district that enables students to use their device daily. Our teachers have had extensive training in educational technology and how best to use technology as an instructional tool. Chromebooks give our students an avenue to show what they have learned through presentations, projects, and assignments. Our students also benefit from the many programs, clubs, and athletic opportunities available to them at the various sites.

We encourage you to get to know your child’s school through the many activities that are planned throughout the year. Our administrators and staff welcome communication with you and want you to feel comfortable at our sites. Please follow the district and sites on Facebook and Instagram to receive instructional and program updates, pictures, and event information

We are looking forward to a great year!
