HHS ORIENTATION

Hughson High will host eighth-graders, their parents at two important orientation events
Two upcoming events at Hughson High School are intended to give prospective students and their parents key information as they consider their choice of schools next fall.
The first event is set for Friday. It is called “Welcome to the Pack” and offers current eighth-graders a chance to visit the campus for a daylong overview of life at Hughson High. Students learn about all the various programs outside of class that can make their high school experience even more memorable – things like clubs, sports, music and other extra-curricular activities.
“Welcome to the Pack” begins at 9 a.m. with a check-in and rally, a performance by the Hughson band and a welcome video. It continues through the day with breakout sessions and includes lunch and a T-shirt for every participant. It wraps up at 1:10 p.m.
"Welcome to the Pack is a ton of fun and one of my favorite events for the year,” said Hughson Principal Loren Lighthall. “I get to meet many of the new students and let everyone know how amazing our school is!”
More than 225 students are expected from the following middle schools and districts – Ross, Hickman, Robert’s Ferry, Gratton and Hughson Christian as well as charter schools such as Keys to Learning, Whitmore and Denair.
The second event is set for Monday, March 13 and is aimed at parents. It will take place beginning at 6 p.m. in the Hughson High gym and is expected to last about an hour. All parents whose children are considering attending HHS are encouraged to attend to learn more about the teachers, academic and other programs, and have a chance to ask questions of Lighthall and other staff members.
Lighthall said parents who can’t attend the meeting should email him at llighthall@hughsonschools.orgto set up a time to meet with him to ask any questions they may have.
