Hughson’s volleyball season ended Thursday night with a three-set loss to Liberty Ranch of Galt in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 4 playoffs.

Hughson was seeded 10th in the 16-team playoff bracket after finishing in fifth place in the Trans-Valley League. The Huskies scored an upset in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday night, knocking off seventh-seeded West Campus of Sacramento in four sets 25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 26-23.

The first-round victory earned the Huskies (15-14) another road match against Liberty Ranch, which won in straight sets 25-21, 25-15 and 25-24.

Hughson’s top players this season were Olivia Piazza (225 kills, 139 digs, 32 serving aces and 31 blocks), Emily Yarbrough (40 aces, 225 assists and 131 digs), Julia Daniels (321 assists) and Izzy Piazza (213 digs, 26 aces and 51 assists).
